Be aware of fraudulent emails and phone calls

Fraudulent emails and phone calls claiming to be from the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) are currently being reported. These emails or phone calls appear to be attempts to solicit personal information or payments.

The PPSC may contact individuals with outstanding federal fines via notification letters sent by mail, which contain information about unpaid fines and available payment methods. However, please be advised that the PPSC does not request personal information or payments via email or over the phone. If you receive such an email, do not respond, click on any links, or provide any information. Instead, report the deceptive actions to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501. You may also report the incident directly to your local police service.
