Reporting on Green Procurement
This supplementary information table supports reporting on green procurement activities in accordance with the Policy on Green Procurement.
1. Context
Although the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) is not required to develop a full Departmental Sustainable Development Strategy, the PPSC adheres to the principles of the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy (FSDS) by complying with the Policy on Green Procurement.
The Policy on Green Procurement supports the Government of Canada's effort to promote environmental stewardship. In keeping with the objectives of the policy, the PPSC supports sustainable development by integrating environmental performance considerations into the procurement decision‑making process through the actions described in the 2019 to 2022 FSDS "Greening Government" goal.

The PPSC has contributed to target 12.7 and supported green procurement by: • considering purchasing environmentally preferable goods and services, when they are available, through a standing offer or a supply arrangement that Public Services and Procurement Canada has identified as being green: • incorporating environmental clauses, and, electronic payment instructions in our solicitation documents; • not printing any contractual or related documents; • using digital approvals from clients for their requests; • using the digital signature option to sign contracts, amendments, and, other necessary approvals in the process; • using email to send contractual documents; and • conducting meetings by phone, or through video conference. These results directly contribute to target 12.7 as all of our procurement officers have the necessary training and awareness to support green procurement. In addition, our entire procurement process within the organization has become digital (paperless). During the 2021–22 reporting cycle, the PPSC had no proposals that required a strategic environmental assessment (SEA) and no public statements were produced.
